LUE3003 Improving Pronunciation through Text Performances
Participation Mark
To obtain the participation mark, you are required to COMPLETE the 7-day Plan using the website www.virtualvoicelab.com anytime before the commencement of ASM3. You can do this self-directed practice before ASM2 or ASM3. To show to the course tutor that you have completed the plan, you MUST upload both a recording of your best reading and a screenshot of the voice chart on Moodle, and complete a survey.
A step-by-step guide is prepared for your reference.
Step 1: Blended Learning Access
To access the Blended Learning platform, click the button at the top right corner of the website.
Step 2: User Registration
For first-time users, you need to register.
Please fill in your FULL name, key in the CRN 3-digit code, and use the university email address for registration.
Step 3: The Rainbow Passage
Once you have registered, you can login and get access to the Rainbow Passage to complete the 7-day Plan
Click the model chart to listen to the standard voice and click the Record button to record your reading of the sentence. When you have completed the reading, click the stop button and your voice chart will be generated.
If you are not happy with the reading, you can record again until you feel happy about the performance.
Step 4: Recording & The Screenshot
Practice the same passage every day using the 7-day Plan to focus on different pronunciation features. On the 7th day, read the sentence that you think is of the closest resemblance to the model chart, download the recording, and take a screenshot just like the screenshot below.
Step 5: Upload on Moodle & the Survey
Upload the screenshot and recording on Moodle, and complete the survey to obtain the participation mark. The survey link is available on the last page of the 7-day Plan instruction sheet.
